Traditionally, Masons have not asked others to join. You have to ask
of your own free will and accord. However, once you ask to join you will
soon be made a Mason.
What is the Process?
One of the first things you should do is find out what you can about
Freemasonry. Check out the library or Freemasons you may know. Right here
on the Internet are literally thousands of sources.
Look for both sides. Did you know that the Anti-Masonic was the first major "Third"
political party? Obviously there are two sides to every story.
Once you do decide to join, the following events will occur:
- You will fill out a petition and give it to a Mason in the lodge you
wish to join.
- The petition will be read at the next meeting and the master will appoint
a investigating committee.
- The investigating committee will visit you and will answer any questions you or
your spouse may have about Freemasonry.
- The investigating committee will report back at the next lodge meeting.
A vote of the members present will be taken.
- If all goes well, the Lodge Secretary will contact you with the date for
your First Degree.
- At approximately one month intervals, your second and third degrees will
take place. You are then a Master Mason.
How much does it cost?
The $64 question. The answer is: Not much at all.
The initiation fee is less than $100.
Our annual dues are less than your monthly cable television bill.
We also contribute to the Brotherhood Fund, but you may contribute what you
wish. Once you join we won't have our hands in your pocket.
How much time does it take?
Like anything else, you only get out what you put in. We typically
hold meetings twice a month. Other events occur which you may or may not
what to participate, such as visitations by Grand Lodge officers, the Child
Identification program, or special dinners and picnics. If you decide to
become an officer, additional time may be required to fulfill your
responsibilities.
For all Masons, your family and vocation come before the Lodge. After you
fulfill your responsibilities to them, then you can consider any additional
responsibilities.
Have you decide to ask to join?
"To be one, ask one."
