A Message from the Chairperson:

Welcome to the Albany County Democratic Committee Website.  The philosophy of the Democratic Party is rooted in concern for the common man and woman.  Concerns that bind us together in a commonality of thought, regarding issues such as providing a first class education for our children, affordable housing and day care for young working families, a good job at fair pay, a reasonable assurance that senior members of our community will have access to adequate and affordable health care, including the cost of prescription medication.

To have a direct influence on how the policy makers formulate laws that most certainly impact all of our lives; we must take an active role in setting the course for our nation.  The writer George Jean Nathan said, "bad officials are elected by good people who do not vote."

I believe my charge as leader of the Albany County Democratic Committee to be two-fold, 1) Find out why our constituents are not coming out to the polls and 2) Educate our constituents to the importance of participating in the political process.

Consistent with the aforementioned philosophy the foundation of the Albany County Democratic Committee was built by dreamers who had a vision that would allow the voices and concerns of working families, those hard working citizens and neighbors to be heard.

I acknowledge with great appreciation and humbleness the fact that I stand on the shoulders of giants. Giants who came before me that had a vision, set a course and fought for its implementation. I vow that during my tenure as Chair of the Albany County Democratic Committee I will keep the principles on which my predecessors built this organization at the forefront of every decision I make on behalf of our party.
