Jessie (New Jersey)

Jessie (New Jersey) is a 2 year old red tri Australian Shepherd who weighs about 45 pounds.  Two years ago, she replaced my husband’s Border Collie, who was his buddy.  Unfortunately, Jessie has never bonded with him. We are now looking for someone to adopt her so that she can be with people that she does bond to.  Jessie is sweet, but very shy and timid.

Like all herding dogs, she loves being physically active.  She is very affectionate to a human that she bonds with (me). At night, she loves to sit in my lap to watch TV and also to cuddle up to me in bed.  Over time, she has warmed up to a few other frequent visitors. However, she is very wary of strangers and will retreat to her hideout (under the bed) when there is a crowd in the house for parties or holidays.

Jessie gets along well with our 8 year old Golden Retriever and other dogs she sees regularly, although  she is very jealous for attention.  She has never shown aggression towards people or animals.   She has never been around cats.

She has never had obedience training and would probably benefit from it. She responds to “sit” and sometimes “roll over” but not too well to “come.”  She has very little experience on a leash, and rides well in the car.

Jessie still occasionally “does her business” in the house primarily when we have guests and she feels threatened.

Her environment with us has been a yard with invisible fence, in and out via a dog door and she has done well with that.

Jessie is a healthy girl who is current on all of her health care. She does currently have a problem with itching that she is getting veterinary attention for.

Jessie would do best in a home with one or two adults and perhaps other dogs. She needs a quiet home and situation as she does not do well with frequent visitors and changes to her environment.

Maggie (Pennsylvania)

Maggie (Pennsylvania) is a sweet girl!  Part yellow Lab and part Australian Shepherd, she has the delightful personality of both breeds.  She look more like a Lab, but is petite and has small bones, and has the Aussie red merling on her back.  Children have played with her without incident, except for countless kisses!  Because of her smaller size, she doesn't overwhelm them.  She walks well on her leash, and obeyed several commands (sit, off, shake).  Maggie likes to play ball and with other toys.  She would make a wonderful family dog, a companion for a couple, or best friend for someone who is single.

Cody (New Hampshire)

Cody (New Hampshire) is a very handsome, loving, playful, almost 7yr old blue merle neutered male, about

55lbs.  He came from a house with no other dogs for his first 6 ˝ years and has now been living with me and 2 other Aussies when that family had to move to an apartment that did not accept dogs.  He is a great family pet but would probably prefer to be an only dog.  He knows how to sit, come, down, shake, drop it, gentle; but does need some work on a leash. He's housebroken and crate trained. Cody has shown some resource guarding with food, bones, and toys but only with other dogs not children.  This is why he would prefer to be an only dog.  He has been absolutely wonderful with and very tolerant of my 4, 5 and 7 year old kids.  He also doesn't respond well to physical force or yelling but does listen well to verbal commands and to having rules set up for him. Cody will require a dog-savvy home with humans who will provide active leadership. He is an active guy, so daily walks are a must.  Cody is current on his vaccinations and is heartworm negative. He rides well in a car and we are working on walking on a leash. He is a puller, and just happy boy to be going for a walk! A fenced-in yard would work best for Cody along with continued socialization and classes.   He absolutely loves to play ball and will bring it right back to you every time and this is a great way for him to burn some energy.

Patches (West Virginia)

Patches (West Virginia) is a very pretty Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix male. He is a sweet fellow who would love a big fenced yard and a home to call his own. He's a little on the shy side and will need some socialization. Patches is up-to-date on his shots and is neutered.
