Was a member of the Congregational church and was highly esteemed as a citizen. Was an active member in the musical community of Brookline participating in the Brass Band, the "Old Brass" and the Brookline Coronet Band. He served for Brookline in the Civil War enlisting in the 16th Regiment NH Volunteer Infantry (Nine Months) September 4, 1862; mustered in October 18, 1862 as Corporal; mustered out August 20, 1863 as Coporal; volunteered for storming party at Port Hudson, LA under G.O. No. 49, Headquarters Dept. of the Gulf, June 15, 1863.
