Uncle Sam Holiday Ornaments

Uncle Sam has been the subject of many Christmas decorations, everything from cardboard cut-out ornaments to nutcrackers to hand painted, limited-edition glass ornaments from Bavaria.

Tin ornament

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments

Hallmark issued a pressed-tin Christmas tree ornament (shown at left) in 1984. Die-cast ornament Sam is holding a teddy bear and a bunch of miniature US flags, while a sprig of mistletoe adorns his hat. The badge on his lapel says "84."

The picture at the right shows Hallmark's 1996 ornament--a die-cast ornament showing Sam riding an old-fashioned cycle.

Ornaments such as these can be valuable to collectors, provided the original box is in good condition.

Nutcracker

Holiday Characters Dressed as Sam

Left: I found this decorative nutcracker at Macy's, around Christmas 1996.

Right: This bear was sold by Claire's boutique in July of 1997, as a promotional item honoring Independence Day Teddy bear(the holiday, not the movie). It may have been intended as an Independence Day item, but it seems better suited to be a Christmas-tree ornament.
