Firestar and other Kolb pictures

My original Firestar with Rotax 377. Newly recovered and painted, June 1998.

Mike Alexander (from the email list) and his Firestar I.

My partner in the Firestar, Buddy. In the background is the motorcycle I had to sell to buy the Firestar.

A custom made trailer. The wings have to be opened or removed to load and unload but it rides nice.

The powerful Rotax 377. Love those wood props!

The BRS-5 install. The rocket fires out through the fabric. This was a pain to get in there, originally it was a BRS-4 that was a couple of inches smaller.

This is a paper model of a Firefly. This is great to experiment with paint schemes. It will really fly too! Click on image to get the full size file, save it to disk, then print with a utility that provides a "fit to page" option.

Newest pictures of my airplane

engine hey, click on the pics to enlarge them.

New Rotax 447 and Powerfin prop. This is a great prop. I miss the nice wooden one though.

Full Enclosure

This is the full enclosure I came up with. It doesn't look the best but it works well. For the really cold days I have little side windows that go on. I also have a heater coming off the engine.

Close up of full enclosure and gap seal

Here you can see the top of the full enclosure and the single piece of lexan I use for a gap seal.

Panel

This is the panel. The instrument to the right is a Winter variometer. I probably use that the most.
