Welcome to The Words in a Row Homepage.  Here you will find essays, stories and other ramblings that I either liked or that I wrote.  Some are written by well known authors, some by friends, some by me and some might be just something that I stumbled across.  I don't suppose that they have to be particularly well written, but they do have to be interesting, or at least interesting to me..

As for me, I am not a professional writer by any means.  Of course if you have read any of my writings, you have already figured that out.  Just as aside, I am not a professional Web Designer either so please forgive the crudeness of this site.  I am merely an individual that likes to write.  I also like to read, and the skill that professional authors have just astounds me to no end.  To be able to create and convey such feelings through words really is truly amazing.  The great thing about writing is that anyone can do it.  It might not sound quite as good as a professional, it might not sound even remotely as good as a professional but put the words in a row, and you have given someone else a thought.

Recently I wrote "Two Weeks at Ground Zero".  It really is the first thing that I have written that was widely read, mostly via the internet, but several newspapers picked it up also and, I have been told, it was broadcast on a local radio station WPYX but I missed it.

In the past, I have written without a consideration that anyone might actually read my words.  To let someone see my thoughts seemed almost a violation of the inner sanctum of my mind.  I mean who really is so comfortable with their thoughts that they would allow someone else to know them?  We all wear masks and no matter what you write, some part of yourself is being exposed., the masks are stripped away.

Well, "Two Weeks at Ground Zero" has somehow changed things for me.  There is a satisfaction is putting words down that strike a chord with people.  I like an audience. It still takes guts, maybe more than I will be able to muster, but I will try.  I read somewhere that to write, you cannot worry about what anyone else will think, you cannot worry about offending anyone, and you must be true to your own heart.  That is one tough thing to do.

I keep a journal (DavidRM, The Journal).  I try and write in it every single day. Most of what I write is garbage, but every once in a while the Muse is upon me and the words come out in such a sweet, smooth manner.  I suppose that most of what I put on this site will be drawn from those words.

Something Different:
An interesting story, my ancestor is David Gathan. I never knew the true story behind his war wound until I happened upon this one day.
