Troop History

Boy Scouting in Voorheesville began May 12, 1920 when a charter was granted by the National Council, 200 Fifth Ave., NY, NY. The troop was then a part of the Fort Orange Council as Troop 1. The troop was first sponsored by the Voorheesville Citizen's Group and its first scoutmaster was Rev. Paul Morrison. The troop began with 12 scouts and 5 adults. The troop number was changed to 73 on May 31, 1929 and has remained that number ever since. The current enrollment is 30 scouts and 37 adults. Troop 73  has remained successful due to the dedication of its' adult leaders/parents and the support of the community.
