Beads and Bark
2007   (8 1/2" x 11")

Detail

I collected some eucalyptus bark in California 5 years ago because I liked the organic shapes. But worried about using the actual bark in a quilt, I borrowed an idea from Larkin Van Horn and painted some timtex with brown paint, then cut it in the shape of the bark. The beads in the quilt include some fabric beads, a turquoise circle (bought at a local shop) and a scarab bead from Egypt. The quilt is framed and is now in Kismet Gallery in Troy NY.
