After a class with Ann Johnston on dye painting, I bought some white silk noil fabric and tried to do it at home. Some of the dye got on places that I did not want it, so the fabric ended up on a shelf for 5 years. A gift of some parachute silk gave me the idea of painting it, then cutting flowers and leaves to applique over the unwanted spots of dye. Remnants of the silk plus ribbons, added as tassels in front and back, looked like the ribbons on a maypole. |
