Tips:

• Group membership takes precedence over DD or DL orders; you will not automatically attack one of your own Group -- The Ancient Sage

Acorn Hearts: Only one heart per visit per turn. Second and further orders aren't even attempted. Sometimes even the first order fails. M 61 works even if the tree isn't seen -- The Ancient Sage

• Always cast the seal temple door spell (34) with your maximum spell points prior to kowtowing for new spells. Your god will recharge your spell points to maximum as he gives you your new spells, so you might as well use what spell points you have to help seal the door. -- Emerson Fitapaw

• I might beg to differ with Emerson Fitapaw's Sage Advice. Experienced monsters who've acquired the Heal Self spell and who are low on Health might instead consider casting Heal Self for all their remaining spell points for the very same reason. Assuming you have the spell, would you rather have perfect health or a better guarded Temple? Of course, if you don't have said spell, Emerson is 100% correct... -- Skizlum Skallaglamm

• In general young monsters should concentrate on jazzercising rather than weapon practicing. It is much more efficient to collect oculars and buy your weapon skills at a Far Inn then it is to weapon practice. This is particularly true between weapon skill levels three and four. 'Extra' action points are better devoted to developing muscle. -- Emerson Fitapaw

Free Stuff!
The island rings with the mantra "Nothing's Free, Skippy!" Well, there are time when that just in not true, here are some Ocular saving ideas for the down on his (her) luck Ruk -- Rufus Stonefist

  • • If you give a Jossman at a Far Post some Flaming Gourds, he will present you will a nice, shiny Curved Machete. Donating at an Inn gains nothing more than thanks from the cook. (This only works once! If you loose it, you will be hard pressed to find another curved machete)
  • After you kill the last loggerhead in a camp, return to an Inn, the Innkeeper will be so thankful, he will give you your very own Trident. If you already have a Trident, sell it [at a forge] for 150 oculars, cache it, or give it away before reaching the next Inn. And you'll get another!
  • Try digging in a square with a Cauldi Plant....
