From the Alumni Band President
Greetings!!!
As of today (April 25), I'm looking at the calendar, and am
realizing (much to my chagrin) that Homecoming 2008 is only
a mere five months away. I just got off the phone with
Scott Setek, and he tells me that the
Alumni Office is quite
busy, with an early Homecoming and no home games in October.
Like most of you, my life is pretty much constantly in motion.
Between my full-time job, my extracurricular activities
(including my
sideline musical
endeavors), and my husband/homebody duties, Alumni Band
hasn't ranked very high on my to-do list. Although Homecoming
2007 was a lot of fun and quite successful, there are still
some loose ends that need to be tied up. I still have a few
shirts I need to mail out, and I still owe checks to a couple
of you. I've been dragging my feet on quite a bit of business;
for this, I want to apologize to each and every one of you.
Nevertheless, Homecoming
2008 is right around the corner! And if we want to
continue our growth and success, we need to begin planning now!
Last October, 18 people joined us on the field as we marched
pregame with the
Pride of
the Orange! Several of those who marched with us were
either marching with Alumni Band for the first time or were
returning after some time away. Everyone who participated
enjoyed themselves! I received nothing but positive feedback
and well-wishes from everyone who took part! In fact, a
number of people told me (and continue to tell me) that they
looked forward to participating next year!
Well . . . next year is almost here, and we need to start
making plans! Mark your calendars for September 20, and
keep an eye on our Homecoming
page as we field an even larger Alumni Band in 2008!
I do want to end this with one personal note. For the past
two years, Sky Harris has been our main contact in the band
office and has been critical in contributing to Alumni Band's
success! Alas, she graduates with her Master's degree next
month! I would personally like to thank Sky for all her help!
I have asked her to join the Alumni Band Board of Directors.
Although she won't be able to help us from the band office,
I look forward to working with her as a member of the Board!
And I also look forward to having her march with us in
September! ;-)
I also look forward to having you march with us as well!
See you on the field!
Sincerely,
Ray Kim '89
