| Astronomy Sketches These are some of my deep sky sketches originally started in reponse to all those folks who kept saying, "You can't do deep sky with a 4"-scope". Phhht! |
North America Nebula and
Pelican Nebula (top); Orion Nebula and M43 (bottom)
Please note that all sketches on this
page (except the Lagoon Nebula) show a mirror-imaged view.
The Pleiades or Seven
Sisters (top); Virgo Cluster Galaxies (bottom)
Some of the galaxies are quite faint.
Look closely!
The Veil Nebula (top);
The Lagoon Nebula (bottom)
Notice Pickering's Wedge (the central
section) of the Veil. The Lagoon Nebula was low enough in the sky
to comfortably use the refractor without a star diagonal, thus
this is the only sketch not mirror-imaged.
The Dumbbell Nebula
(top); The California Nebula (bottom)
For the Dumbbell, note the crossbar
in the apple-core shape and the fainter extensions that turn the
apple-core into a football.
