The Schenectady County Yard Waste Compost Facility is operated by the Schenectady County Soil and Water Conservation District. The Facility is available to all residents of Schenectady County, However, a sticker must be purchased. The sticker costs $10 and can be obtained at the County Farm. The sticker is good for one calendar year, from January through December. It must be affixed to the vehicle.
YARD WASTE (loose): Grass clippings, Leaves
BAGGED YARD WASTE: Bagged yard waste must be in biodegradable paper bags. No plastic bags, please.
LOGS & STUMPS: Please keep free of excess soil & rock
BRUSH: Brush and logs exceeding 4 inches in diameter should be no longer than 5 feet in length.
Under conditions of high winds, heavy rains or snow, operation of the the facility could be suspended.
Smoking, or use of any spark generating equipment is strictly prohibited.
Up to 1 1/2 cubic yards (about a pickup truck load) is allowed free of charge each day for any vehicle with a sticker. Any amount exceeding 1 1/2 cubic yards per day is assessed a $6.00/yard fee.
COMMERCIAL USERS : Schenectady County businesses are assessed a $6.00 per yard fee Out-of-County businesses are assessed a $9.00 per yard fee.
