MY TRUCK WAS BUILT IN 2001.  MODEL: F-250 SUPER DUTY, 4WD CREW CAB.

                   IT WAS MANUFACTURED BY FORD.  THE 5.4 LITER TRITON V-8 ENGINE DESIGN

                    IS FLAWED.  FORD’S RESPONSE TO THIS IS TOUGH!

                        BUYER / OWNER BEWARE.  THE ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE IS A LEMON!  FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THERE IS PROBLEM!

q       Ford 5.4 Liter V-8 Triton engines manufactured from 1998 to 2003 have an inherent design flaw.  There are not enough screw threads in the cylinder heads to engage and contain the sparkplug(s).

q       This engine has been used in Ford F-Series trucks, E-Series vans, SUV’s and Mustangs.

q       The engine in my vehicle ejected a sparkplug out of the cylinder head.  The repair estimate to replace the head is $3000.   There are no guarantees against another failure!

q       This problem is known to occur at any level of engine life span. Search on-line, this is not an isolated incident.

IF YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND PURSUE THE ISSUE YOU CAN EXPECT THE FOLLOWING FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY;

q       A call to Ford customer service (800-392-3673) will get you no where.  If you are not satisfied, the next step per Ford Customer Service is to write to Bill Ford, the CEO.  If you contact your dealer, they will refer you to customer service.

q       Ford will tell you there are no factory recalls for this problem. The repair is the responsibility of the consumer.

q       Ford will not provide you contact information to speak to the factory service representative.

q       Ford will not honor an extended warranty for this cylinder head failure because the sparkplug is not a lubricated part.  Note that the cylinder head is what fails, not the sparkplug.  The cylinder head is a lubricated part.
