The Salvation Army Evangeline Booth Miracle Home

What is the Evangeline Booth Miracle Home?

The Booth Home is an emergency homeless shelter that houses women and children. The residents are offered a safe and comfortable place to stay with private rooms, three meals a day, laundry facilities, telephone access, referral services, and case management to help the women continue on a positive path as they move through the journey of life.

Who was Evangeline Booth?

Evangeline Booth was the first woman General in The Salvation Army. Her tremendousevangelical efforts included an expansion of the army’s social services program, including theimplementation of food and shelter depotsand salvage brigades for the unemployed.
She was a staunch friend of all in need without discrimination. The Booth Home is honored to bear her name.

Why are we raising money for the Home?

Monies are needed for updating the home, making repairs, bringing in educational and counseling programs etc. The Booth Home would like to do more than just put a band-aid on the homeless situation. Each woman should be given the time and chance to learn to attend to all her needs.

Why are these women and children homeless?

Homelessness occurs for many reasons, including fires, domestic violence, eviction, drug addiction, alcoholism, mental illness, job loss, and medical problems. Many of the women are also suffering from severe emotional trauma.
We see all these problems at The Booth Home and have learned that they are not insurmountable. With the right help and support, miracles can and do happen.
