Christian Education
Christian Education classes are offered from September through May. Classes for people of all ages are held each Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. We welcome you to join us in our ongoing Christian journey as we seek to learn more about Christ and his teachings.
Child Care for Infants and Toddlers
Sunday School (Pre-School through 5th Grade)Union Presbyterian Church currently uses two curriculum resources. Our preschool class (held from 9:30 - 10:15 a.m.) utilizes "Biblezone Live!" This curriculum uses music, crafts and storytelling to teach our young children Bible stories. We invite interested parents to remain with their children during this class. For our school age children UPC uses the Cornerstones workshop rotation model of education. Using this multi-intelligence approach, Bible stories are shared with children through a variety of interpretive, interactive, hands-on experiential means.
Music MinistryA variety of musical opportunities including Youth Choir and Orff are offered to enhance the Christian Education experience of our young people. These are described in detail in the Music section of our website.
Sunday Morning Youth Class (for Middle and High School youth) This class reflects Biblically and theologically on contemporary topics of interest to our youth such as Christian ethics, money, peer pressure and the environment. Confirmation classes for youth who wish to explore what is involved in joining the church are offered for 8th through 10th graders approximately every other year.
Adult Faith Enrichment (Open to All)
Adult Faith Enrichment classes are taught by volunteers from the congregation, our pastors, and outside experts on a variety of topics relevant to contemporary Christian life. We invite all to join us for this time of discussion and inquiry. UPC also offers "Coffee and Conversation," a weekly opportunity for parents of school-aged children to gather informally in the church Library for fellowship during the Christian Education hour.
Our Christian Education Committee is responsible for planning, guiding and establishing policy for all educational programs - adult, children and youth - of the church. Although core members of this committee are drawn from our Elders, all members of the church are encouraged to participate in monthly meetings.
