After nervously rehearsing the wedding ceremony details in Congress Park, the weekend
began with a wonderful Rehearsal Dinner at Lillian's restaurant on Broadway in Saratoga
Springs. The
dinner was filled with lots of love, laughter and happy tears, as we all had the
opportunity to take some time-out together before the big day.
We were most pleasantly surprised by gifts from my
sister, Vickie, and my mom, Sandie. Vickie gave us a beautiful hand-crafted wedding quilt,
which, incidentally, is very similar to the border of this page, and my mom gave us a
beautiful handmade cross-stitched "Wedding Announcement". Stuffed from the food and spent from the excitement, the evening slowly
wound down...or so we thought.
Meanwhile, back at the Adelphi, Grampa Dannecker had his own plans for the night. These
plans entailed more merriment in the lobby of the hotel, replete with a fully stocked bar
on the coffee table (See red circle in following picture). In fact, this bar was one of the weekend's highlights. In true Dannecker
style, Grampa actually went to the "real" bar and asked the bartender for
glasses, etc. to stock his own bar! Needless to say, this made for a late night and a
great time for us and many of our out-of-town guests--so much fun that one of our guests
who shall remain anonymous had a slight mishap down a nasty flight of stairs! Well, somebody was bound to do it--and at least the
beer bottles didn't break!
