As a character grows they naturally pick up the traits and skills of the environment they are growing up within. This is called Adolescent Skill Develpoment and characters automatically gain skill ranks based upon the culture that they were raised within. The HARP rules present a number of generic cultures that a character may grow up in. There are a whole host of cultures found across the world of Whent and the skills found in the Adolescent Skill Development groups below will help develope a character much more in tune with the world the character will be playing in - rather than just some generic character. Among all of the normal skills gained during adolescent development I have included the languages (both spoken and written) that characters raised within each culture would have learned.
One important distinction between HARP and many other games is that a character of any race may be raised within any culture - however there are some limitations. The character must buy the Changeling talent. The character must also have a background that justifies the Adolescent Skill package and GM approval.
* - Any character may choose this Adolescent Skill package regardless of their race and without the need to buy the Changeling talent, provided however that the character's background supports taking this package.
