Wolf-Runner

[Kurrick Half-Breed]

Wolf Run Half-Breeds are the product of liasons between the Free Cities Clansmen and the Teleri [Wood Elves]. A quiet, hardworking race they are similar in outlook to the typical Free-Cities Clansmen with a healthy dose of reverence for nature. Like all "Runners", as those who are from Wolf Run are called, they maintain frequent contact with the elves of Sivlestri Wood, and are strongly attached to the Way of Druidry.

Physical Characteristics


Build: Their combined parentage typically results in a very average looking human, with their Elven blood keeping all but the gluttonous thin.

Coloring: Here again the combined parentage yields a surprisingly varied assortment. Blond hair is almost as common as brown, with red also frequently found. Eye color is typically gray, with blue and brown also found.

Endurance: Significant

Height: Males average 5'11"; females 5'7"

Lifespan: 650 - 700

Resistance: Substantial

Special Abilities: Natural Nightvision and Dark Vision

Demeanor: Like the forest they live in they are quiet and comfortable, with many unseen areas. They usually wear a small smile, and runners are generally pleasant to be around. When working toward a goal they are fiendishly focussed, but still quiet.

Prejudices: Absolutely none. Even the Wolf-men have their proper place and to deny that is to deny one's own being.

Culture


Clothing & Decoration: The traditional Kilt and trews for men is slowly giving way to separate kilt and cloak. Women who had traditionally worn a tartan wrap have long ago transitioned to high waisted dresses with tartan smocks. Numerous furs are also common.

Fears & Inabilities: None

Lifestyle: A Runner's lifestyle is dictated by their status as a woodland kingdom, their close relationship to the elves, and nearly constant skirmishes with the wolf-men. All who are capable of wielding a sword and bow are instructed from their childhood and usually see their first battle by their 20th year, (the age of majority ). Life revolves around the fortified lodge/hall, which is the center of their towns. Most of their efforts are spent guarding their lands and carrying out missions for their town/clan Chief. The level of trust the runners place in their chiefs is bettered only by the unbroken record of success the chiefs hold. Men and women are considered to be completely equal.

Marriage Pattern: Monogamous, but marriage is not necessarily a permanent institution. The great variety of the lifespans of the people of Wolf Run has seen the development of 'Marriages" which may be annulled merely by the declaration of either party. When new marriages are declared it is usually cause for a village-wide celebration, given by all to toast the new couple.

Religion: Runners are quiet about their religious leanings, but they are nearly unshakably devoted to Druidism.
