"THE" gypsies, they are found throughout the world and the multiverse. As a race they are among the most garrulous, but little is actually known about them. Nobly proportioned the men average about 5'10" with the women about 4" shorter. The typical Romm is olive skinned with black curly hair, and brown eyed.
Cursed may never sleep twice in the same place. In effect they become unable to sleep and suffer fatigue and exhaustion effects if they attempt to sleep under the same roof twice. Aside from becoming physically weak the Romm also do not recover any spellcasting abilities and their though processes become muddled and slow. No magical healing or other effect has been found to be capable of offsetting this effect. This is an absolute effect if a Romm sleeps under the same roof/in the same place twice within a month with the effect becoming more forgiving thereafter but even sleeping in different locations within the same 5 mile radius will eventually (in about 3 months) cause the Romm to suffer the effects mentioned. In short the curse absolutely requires the Romm to travel or exist in a sleep-deprived stupor. This is one of the reasons the Romm have such an intense fear of slavery and imprisonment.
While the Romm are normal humans in nearly all respects they, perhaps as a by product of the curse, have a racial Affinity for divinatory magic, allowing them to learn the Art of Divination regardless of what ever actual class/profession they pursue.
Note: the Romm are the favorite of the Wandering God. Rumors abound as to why this is true but the actual reason is so fantastic that none outside of the Romm even suspect. As for the Romm, well they know the truth but aside from remaining silent out of pride no one would believe them anyway for the Wanderer is the first and true king of the Romm. It was through him that they were cursed as a people to wander for all of eternity. This also means that for all they are relatively mundane they predate nearly all other beings in the multiverse. As Whent was coming to be she called to the Wanderer and they became one. He and the Romm view Whent as a gift from the universe and the closest thing they have to a 'home'. As a people they have seen other races born, age and die. There was a Romm present to watch the first dragon fly, to watch as the void belched forth the lower and higher planes. They have watched the gods be born.
Now of course none of the current Romm have witnessed this directly, except the Wandering God, but they do actually know their heritage and that gives them an unshakable mental strength. Among other things they can not be pacted even if they want to. A situation that causes them no end on consternation when some ignorant rube tries to accuse one of them of Witchcraft. With their connection to Whent they are also able to freely sense and use any gate or portal they come across. Even those portals erected by other mages or divine practitioners only a physical restraint will prevent a Romm from passing through the gate.
