Other Races

General Description

There are a number of other races that do not easily fit into one of the other categories. Those races are listed here:

Altaar - These people live in the forested sub-tropical lands north of the Old Kingdom. A cursed race the men of this race are ape-like possessing moron-level intellects. The women of this race are astoundingly beautiful and of normal to high intellect. Both are quite tall with the tallest nearing 8 feet tall and even the shortest well over 6 feet tall.

Bae'urgh [Gnome] - A bit different from the tricksters that they are portrayed as in the D20 games Gnomes in Whent are quiet, often unnoticed beings with a powerful natural connection with the arcane.

Benificata - This race is another mystery race. They came out of nowhere, carved the city Taurus from the very rocks of the Dragon's Arch and managed that city (and a large portion of the seafaring trade) with a firm but benevolant (and rarely seen) hand. It has been nearly two and a half centuries since they sealed off the Upper Ward of the city and there has been no sign of them since. No one who has entered the Upper Ward since has been seen again. Strange lights and sounds occasionally are seen but never a living soul. Trade still goes on in the Lower Ward - and quite profitable too given that the Benificata are no longer around to collect tarrifs. Many attempts to take over and control the city - and the trade that passes through it - have been made over the years. From bona fide merchant houses to noble families to would-be crime lords - all have tried and failed. Many argue that the continued failure shows that the Benificata are still secretly guiding their city. Others speak of an ancient curse that was awoken by the Benificata's carving into the Dragon's Arch. Either way they are gone.

Githyanki - This race along with the Githzerai below are as described in the Psionics Handbook from Wizards of the Coast with a couple of minor modifications to fit them into the history I use for them as races. The history centers on the Githzerai and I haven't yet updated it to 3E or Rolemaster compliance. The history may be found here. I had so much fun coming up with their history I had to include them among the peoples of Whent.

Githzerai - See Above.

Hin [Halfling/Hobbit] (Halfling) - Fairly rare and found primarily within the Old Kingdom lands the Hin are a peaceful agrarian folk most often found as freemen living under the protection of the local lord. Over the centuries it has been well established that they work best under a light protective hand so most lords who find willing Hin afford them land to work and ring them with protection. Those who attempt to rule the Hin as a dictator find the Hin tend to melt away into the night only to reappear on the lands of a more appropriate lord.

Toth - A race of 4 armed humaniods. Of giant stature these beings are not truely giants and pre-date the birth of giant-kind. The Toth are content to remain apart having little to do with the rest of the world. As a race they are very accomplished in shapechanging magics and even on the rare occasion where they do interact with other races on Whent they never reveal their actual race. Many scholars believe the Toth to be a mythical race. (The Toth are not a race available for Player Characters to use. The entry is for DMs/GMs.)
